Tulip Fever – a love story

In the 17th century, an orphan girl Sophia (Alicia Vikander) marries a rich and powerful merchant Cornelis Sandvoort (Christoph Waltz). However, this unfortunate “arrangement” is the only thing that saves it from safe poverty.

The whole adventure begins when her husband wants to have a portrait together. When the painter enters their home and meets the wonderful Sophia, things change completely. Although moral principles were the main pillars in Sophia’s life, everything changes into a crazy love.

Between the two, painter Jan Van Loos (Dane DeHaan) and Sophie, begins a passionate adventure. Seeking to escape the relationship she had with Cornelius, Sophia throws herself into the artist’s arms and she will risk everything for them.

Jan Van Loos changes his way of life and tries to find a plan to bring Sophie into his life definitively. Things get complicated when the auctioning fever for tulip bulbs turns into a reality for the most influential people in the Netherlands. Jan Van Loos will enter in this world, thing which will increase his notoriety due to the possession of a rare tulip bulb.

It was shot at the Norwich Cathedral, Norwich, Norfolk, but also in other locations in the UK. They had an estimated budget of $ 25,000,000.

Alicia Vikander is an actress who has managed to win the public’s sympathy with her roles in Ex Machina (2014), The Danish Girl (2015), The Man from U.N.C.L.E (2015) or Jason Bourne (2016). She won last year (2016) an Academy Award for Best Performing Feature for The Danish Girl.

Dane DeHaan – the actor who plays the role of the painter, has been nominated for several film festivals, winning the title for best artistic performance at the Hamptons International Film Festival (2013) and the Golden Schmoes Awards (2012).
